where the wild flowers grow

0 posted 2003-08-20 05:16 PM

Underneath the old
stone mountains
I
buried a time
capsule.

Inside, there were
old baseball cards
and
a few poems
I'd written in
first grade but..

The one thing
precious thing
was the garnet ring
my grandmother gave me.

Held
within the
course stone
of mountain where
plants have grown solitary
above my memories.

My birthstone lay
under stars and skies
grey..

Perhaps
someday..I will retrieve it..
And though
not completely owned..

It is where my heart,
buried
in time capsule.

kaoru

I have done this... fortunately though it wasn't my heart... I returned some years later and though I knew exactly where it was. . . things were so overgrown I was unable to retrive my treasure. Now the miles and years divide me and I'm no longer certain why I did (or what I hid) such a thing. It would however be interesting to recover the forgotten reminisce and what I thought needed to be buried at the time. Enjoyed much... brought back a memory long set aside...

as for your subtle challenge

in ages past when
I was dipped from the
firmament and flung
into the erosion
of the terra
below I
lived
early
chaotic
lives that some

how over time I dismissed
or purposely misplaced “they” very
well may be things I’d like to discover
again but it would appear I may not
have the time or the means for
such a journey but I feel
a mystique calling
and a ghostly
quality to
your subtle
challenge to think

that travel to a place I already
lived could be an adventure but again
to reminisce and dream hold so many
helpless moments and tears it’s
possible many things I
don’t want to
remember
and why a
mysterious
part of my unexplored
spirit chooses
not to

It may be that your writing only torched something in me but I think you have dipped well into the ink with this and also a kindred familiarity in your touch of pen and especial the freedom of esoteric revealing. Thank you again...

lovely, Meg

I have a piece of jewelry of my Dad's. But I actually only bring it out once a year on his birthday, just to hold it and to let him know I have not forgotten him.
