I ran a lifetime,
naked
in a blinding freezing rain,
the dizzy body numbness
the bloody breathing pains
my distant disembodied footsteps,
were all the world to me
while my reality
came down to moving forward.

I forgot the reason for my flight,
forgot the terror of the night,
forgot my vanity
my sanity
forgot humanity,
and still I ran
on through the night,
until my body died
and fell away;

I forgot I'd been inside it,
I kept running.

There is a place that runners go that feels like this, I know, it is the same place where a poet goes to find her soul.

Sometimes when I read your poetry I wonder what on earth goes through your mind in a single day.  There are a million stories it seems in your every thought, and I hope you never run out.  Very interesting look at life in this poem.

You run long enough you forget why, just that you have to...

I to, am a runner.

Aenimal ~ Thought you might. *smile*

Martie ~ Yes, it is the same place.  When my body worked better, I used to enjoy running.  Just one more thing I've left behind.

Mysteria ~ *laugh* Trust me when I tell you that you do not want to be inside here! *smile*

Susan Caldwell ~ Sometimes I feel that way about living.
