I.C.U. Bay #5

She wears green, the ties flowing
her cap nestles her hair
strawberry blonde
long, plaited and relaxed.

she flits softly along the vinyl
ballerina-like in the quiet
between beeps and murmurs.

Her face engaged
her gown undisturbed.

Her eyes bebop
over sterile silver
sucking in liquid
here and there
over cotton
over steel

over into mine

brown and practiced
for I have been here a many a time

we smile that
"everything will be fine"
"i'm sure everything will be fine"

smile

I look at mum
decorated with tubes and wires
then back to our "ballerina"

and I wonder
where would I be without them.

fate is not just
whose cooking  smells good
but which way the wind blows

(Ani DiFranco)

Hello Gorgeous...

and oh my, you brought me there. I could hear the machines and there is always that medicinal smell...

Touching write, lovely lady.

You all keep feeding this poet.

Thank you...this is a feast of imagery.

Just let Mom know that my prayers are with her for a swift recovery, and the little angel you are speaking of will help her to that very speedy return...ok?

You caught the nurse, ICU and the feelings perfectly, and took me right there.  You sure met the challenge with a great job and wish I could write as well, much admiration Maree.

Sure, I wear rose-colored glasses, makes everything just rosey. Carpe' Diem

Very well written Maree..
You took us there and we could actually see her
and hear the machines running....amazing lady.
Challenge well met.

Maree

I love the image you created of the nurse....she seemed so human, yet at the same time angelic and unreal.  I am sending healing thoughts to your mom, and a hug to you.
