She has a rhythm to herself--
secret smile guards memory
veranda creaking old porch swing
as the ice in her tea melts
a soggy sprig of mint within
one knee is tucked the other keeps
the rock of ages timed.

Blue eyes match the sky in depth
her vision just as far away
watch her pull the silken thread
another pillow for her bed
every stitch another word
taut and smooth to rest her head--
sleep will keep her dreams tonight.

I don't believe I've ever seen a finer etching of Helen as she appears to us...this is simplicity, and elegance...and beauty of one...

to another.

Well done, Serenity...

Meeting your own challenge . . .
and kind of you, K
I think she's going to like this.

back to the rotation of working nights again
days seem to be just like the others (sigh)
tonight as I drove home for lunch I was thinking
when is it all going to be different
where is the joy I pray for
opened pip and found this
I printed it so I could read it over and over
during the rest of my shift

can I say thank you
and not make it sound so simple and stupid?
you really don’t know what you have done for me
today such heaviness now seems a little lighter

just one question though
when I go back into work and think of this in my pocket
and my mascara is running
how am I going to look tough to the inmates

Karen thank you
Thank you so much

oh my.

Helen?

You can say, flat-out, "simple and stupid" and it wouldn't sound simple and stupid.

You made me happy tonight, knowing I could help a little. And truly, this just wrote itself, as I read YOUR poetry.

Hugs lady.

And everybody? Thank you all for helping me to thank HER. She's so quiet sometimes--I just thought she should be celebrated a bit.

Thanks for helping me.

Love to all.
