Even now as we sit
partaking from this wine
and dried fruit we so horded
on those long days of trekking across
barren sands under the sun
which never relented in its efforts
to burn us into a state of purity
the sand is shifting
into the tracks of our camels
and soon we will be a forgotten trace
but for the hidden or protected odd print
that does not settle into the dunes
but lingers a day or two after we are gone.

Our lives were such prints
until they joined as they have today and we found
the bonds of grain allowing a bit of us
to be left when we are gone
and resting in the arms of Allah

Perhaps someone will read of us
and wonder at how our love
so reflects theirs
of how it was when we were young
and ran naked along the rivers edge
only to fall into each other
and join the water
as we joined

flowing...
like sand
like water

The days change us
the years..
rob us of the time

Even now...
there are grains blowing across
the lines of this page
obscuring the words
abrading the hearts

Sip with me.
the night is young
and tomorrow we must journey on

I will read for you
those things I have written
and you may frown or smile
at the clumsy words

"It begins here, with you
and ends  only when the sphinx
no longer stares."

It does begin...
with you...

when we read, and are quenched,
or at the very best,
inspired...yet again.

Captain,
your words flow
like sand
like water...

..and they sizzle like the sun.

I robbed myself of time by wasting it on the wrong people...

Your writings are so romantic and hopeful..

I particularly like the latter part of this:
from
"Even now . . ."

A nice sense of time, enigma that it is.

Damn bud, saw your name, thought it was a mirage.  Must be those darn buttons I been chewing on...
Seriously, this is a perfect example of the kind of poetry I like most from you.

should I even look for the way out?...
after finding myself lost, again, in one of your poems.

Ron

I do love these looks into such a far distant way into this love.  Much obliged!
