A Cross
Worn on my chest
Protecting me from all I fear
Guiding me through all that is not clear
Testing me the entire way

The fractured light
The broken window I see it through
Distorts my vision
Complicating my direction
Making my journey that much harder

Harder to decide my true desire
From which I bleed
Suffer so quietly
Smile on my face
Misleading all including myself

Should I seek reprieve
Or do I continue on
This pathway to nowhere
Seeking answers that cannot be found
Only leading me to new questions

A Cross
Worn on my chest
Protecting me from myself

Hey you.

A happy hello to our prodigal poet.

And Rich? I love this, but yep, you KNEW I might, huh?

Lots of soul searching here, and this is by far one of the most introspective pieces of poetry I've read from you in awhile. I loved the juxtaposition of beliefs held in such high regard, while maintaining the personal integrity of questioning the SELF first, and you know the witch in me loves that you placed the ultimate responsibility of "salvation" upon the self, without placing blame on circumstance or others.

The cross we bear is truly one of our own carpentry, methinks.

I'm thrilled with this, and joyed to see you.

Stick around awhile?

(and I'm smiling at the irony of ME telling YOU that--wasn't that YOU who invited ME here in the first place?)

and btw? I just drank that last cold beer...

Check with the G tho, regarding a football party.

love to you, Rich.
