                     Full of Empty

                     My glass
                     once poured full with hate
                     and refilled apace
                     from a keg of bitterness
                     rests empty on the shelf.

                     For a time
                     I topped it off
with a sweet foam I helped create
                     that has since come
                     to evaporate.

                     It waits there now
                     with dry stains
                     and crusts
                     that no one
                     reaches out to touch.

                             Helen, thanks for the inspiration,

Oh yes, this cuts though the crystal,
reflecting what no one can see.

Well, if you clean that glass up a bit-- with cleansing tears if need be, and fill it to the brim with happy memories from the past, and dreams for your tomorrow, I'll join you in drinking to your health and happiness!

Loving, healing hugs,
EA

The flip answer is to say
bring it down
wash it out,
fill it with a new brew...

but the honest answer is...

I understand.

Blues,
Oh, but it was out there for all to see . . .

Dixie,
If we could only dash them against a hearth, like in an old movie scene, and reach for a new one.

idont . . .
The haven of the night?  I know it well.

h,
Hey you . . .

EA,
Did I forget to mention tear stains?
Now if I could just figure out how to split those memories . . .
And a toast to yours as well.

Toe,
Thank you, Sir.

Sunshine,
or like fine scratches on eyeglasses
an accumulation of wear

Aenimal,
Ha!  Maybe so, maybe so.
One of these days . . . at the Great PIP Get-together.
Wouldn't that be a blast?

h,

I like this very much, Krawdad... love the way it can be interpreted as either a reminder of progress... or a slide so far that even bitter is left behind. *S* Excellent write!
