Making Paper

I am making paper
hear the sound it makes
like an old cigar box closing
where I keep something special of a gown
or a photo of the time before
now lace torn and fabric yellow
that is how it feels

Making paper from words
making words from poems that dwell
folded with the clover
now crisp and fine curled
hair cut below the rubber band with dull scissors
these things hold me dear
and take exact change from my supply
every time

I am making paper click
when I close my eyes in the dark of some midnights
I hear the life of my fingers
leavened now and mapping the roads I’ve taken
I see the graceful slant of wrist
the skin like homemade bread
yes it pulls me to the words again
and making paper from the poems in my head

I think one time before I’m done
I will make just the right one

Little girl, you make the paper beg for your ink...and then you bend it into a memory.  I say, yet, and again...

start the gathering sounds...

because I know you know it would all disappear, and then... , then...you could do it again...

Making paper.....who but you would image it in this way, and yet what more appropriate image is there?

And the subtlety -- "something special of a gown," and we know what gown, see it for ourselves... and a photo of "the time before" lets us see the time before, remake the story with no need to be told...and yes, that is how it feels, when you tie it together and bring it into the present of your own emotion....

....and so it goes, each of these little keepsakes becoming personal to us as you bring us along with you, follow through the seamless transition into words of your craft about your craft, as it ties in to all these things for you...

Only you, Martie. Only you can do this. You're amazing.

You also are making me smile (a simple non-polluting by-product).

Martie...how you come up with these, I will
never fully comprehend.  I'd love to spend
a day in your head...even an hour would be
the treat of a lifetime.

You and this are beautiful...

One time? *S* Lady... you do it EVERY time. *S* I stare at an ever-filling garbage can and just envy. *S*

nope Sis,

A poet never pens just the right one... but then again of course "there's you..." and no one has come so close. (my John Wayne voice) "Now don't you go and get discouraged 'lil darlin', you just keep on tryin'... and I'll make sure these folks see ya, cause I'm here to put you on top."

PS. Prayers to you and Taylor

Love, RJ and dale
