Still I Dwell On What Was

I can only begin healing
When I decide to let go
Still I dwell on what was
My mind sent to and fro

I was trying to be hopeful
Attempted to stay strong
Still I dwell on what was
By lingering far too long

The depth of my thoughts
True feelings professed
Still  I dwell on what was
Perhaps I am obsessed

Thoughts are reminders
Of desired satisfactions
Still I dwell on what was
Of our past interactions

Exposing my weakness
Declared in kiss and tell
Still I dwell on what was
Refusing  to say farewell

holding on and being hopeful doesn't work all that well, Hope
Take it from one who knows.
Letting go is the only way
to have some inner peace.

Enjoyed your words this morning

Hope,

You have a nice refrain building with the repetition of "Still I dwell on what was", it compliments the tone of this poem.

Thank you for this,

An appropriate subject for the rhythm of a repeating form.
Good choice.
Enjoy your work.

A very good poem, dear Hope, but you give the right answer to its content ...you linger far too long. But when it hurts it hurts I know!
I hope that you'll be able soon to let go ... to look forward ... imagine to live again in the NOW.
Love and hugs. Margherita
