Basket Full of Love

The pretty basket sitting empty
along the side of the quiet
country road was so inviting.
My sister, Betty Lou, says,
“Lets fill this basket with love
and give it to someone We Love.”
“How?” I say.
First lets dust and clean
so it will look brand new.
Second lets draw
apretty picture with
lots of colors and smiles.
Third lets fill the basket
with wild flowers and sunshine.
Fourth fill with
bubble gum and tootsie rolls.
Fifth fill a jar with
hugs and kisses
so it can be opened
when someone is feeling sad.
And if
they listen real close
and
put their ear to the
jar they will hear “We Love You.”
As we give them the basket we will say.
“This is our gift to you
a basket full of love.”

Very sweet and thoughtful. I always enjoy your poems. Good poets have good hearts and yours is very good.

I have only my genius to declare!
