Saluting with misty eyes

0 posted 2003-08-16 04:05 PM

As I walked through the woods
My feet taking me somewhere
My mind wandering nowhere
I happened upon a crossroads
At least I believe it to be so
The path upon where I walked
And the trails which appeared
One to each side,
Slightly over-grown with trees
As my faithful hound ran ahead
I stood amidst these paths
To see from whence they came
Maybe to where they led
Looking around me
Watching the pictures pass my mind
Of the many trails I had seen along my journey
Slowly, achingly, I came to realize
I had seen these places before
These were paths I had trod in days past
That have led me to the crossroads I now met
Standing there gazing at the past
Staring into the future
Not knowing which was which
I became again aware
My best friend was barking excitedly
Happy to be where we were
Glancing one last time to each side
At the choices I was ignoring right now
I continued along my journey
Vowing to change my path some other day

With apologies to Mr. Sandburg

Nice poem Ringo~ Enjoyed this very much!

I think it's human nature to question direction and where to go from here, or continue to stay within our means.

shadows- Thank you for the kind words.. although my ex believes that al men can be dogs... lol

Sue- As long as my dog doesn't mind, you are always more than welcome. Just remember to bring the music.

Nancy- Kind words from you are always a compliment. Thank you.

BS- Maybe this world would be better if we all took more time, eh?? Thanks for reading.
