On the Ship of No Regret

With her ear against the deck,
wave and timber melt.

The layers of sleek wood
are new and freshly cut,
for the fragrance of cedar and pine
and the umber deep sense of sea combine
and she is a fathom away from the place
where she wept.

She remembers days
of flitting against glass windows
to get to this place where meaning gathers,
and now she knows the door was always open.

She is a sight,
her hair a bird in wind arrayed,
her fingers spread out against the wood
as if to make music,
her skirt in billow of sail,
yet, if you saw her eyes
you would feel morning catch you
with a child’s heart

and for a moment, remember also.

Was I by chance a passenger on this ship
at one time or another?

Well said Martie.

(big hugggssssssss) Oh Martie, your words have a way to make me cry because you have a very sensitive and golden heart that can feel for every child and you bring so much love and hope for the children as you encourage them to sing on and find their special place! (sigh) God Bless You, sweet friend, we all love you so much! You have such a beautiful heart, sweet Martie, thank you for sharing!

May love and light always shine upon you!

Thanks for reviving this one! It gave me the opportunity of reading it!

"yet, if you saw her eyes

Sweet lady, that is a hard ship to book passage on....but the trip is worthwhile. Again you give such dimension, such clarity, make the act of writing seem so effortless....beautiful stuff.
