I brave the pavement
up a hill
I look to my right then to my left
I cross where two roads meet

alluring me.

I do it all with my feet

and

I do not understand
I do not know

yet

of grief that travels low
over ground
silently

with

a slide show of the past.

fate is not just
whose cooking  smells good
but which way the wind blows

(Ani DiFranco)

The past is like a slide show that I don't care to watch...even if it is easier said than done!!  It's almost like excess baggage.

Anyway, I enjoyed your perspective and I thank you for allowing me my take.

It's always good to read you Maree~

Most of mine seems like a slide show given by a neighbor I hardly know....at least, when I compare it with the intensity of the present....here, lemme show ya some of mine...

Notice how everybody keeps picking up on that image? That's cuz it's so darned good, and brings a response from every person who reads it. Nice work!

Maree

Interesting...grief really is a reaction to something that happened already...never thought of it quite like you have in this well done poem.  As always, you write from a deep place.

I know the slide show...seems that far too often the good slides flash quickly in my mind and the "bad" slides stay fixed.

A great write!

You know, when you told me last night [my night, your morning] that you were writing, I didn't know what to expect.

Now...I don't know what to say.

Sometimes I like it when someone leaves me speechless...

Seems you've made that hill somewhat less daunting...

I'll say it again. "You do this so well"

I hear the whisperings when I walk too.

I was with you every step, Luscious.

Maree:

it's the crossing of the roads that frightens me . . . or is it the standing at the threshold of?

Either way . . . a strenuous flight . . .

It's our pasts that make us who we are today, however painful they may have been - and hopefully...they help to prepare us for what's to come.  Love your words!

I had a response to each one of you but then lost it all. How I don't know. Anyway...

I want to thank each one of you for popping in and reading and your lovely and warm replies.

It's this sort of flashing slide show imagery that seems to be my sole "entertainment" sometimes.

Nicely done
