High Tea

Evening
to a winter scene
comes warm and full
when with her palms night encircles
porcelain.
And with the moon arrives a look
as though within its deep, rich crescent
light pretends itself a bowl
of distant, oriental china. Into this midst
excuse a spoon, a common, rough barked
branch of elm, to taste the sweetness of a dream,
but spills the sugar for all to see.

I've been to High Tea...
and this is your palette, at its best...
this is lovely, Robert,
and my eyes are pleased...
as is my mind.

Lovely and delicate, Bob. Great use of metaphor too, friend!
