upon the field crow's shadow cast lightning flashes o'er trembling oaks through the din of pipes and armour her shrilling from the swollen grey seals our fates still onward we trudge to battle to death |

While The Crows Waited Through the glens in the night, blades blackened or hidden from sight, nettle flogged legs to give some heat, still the damned hoarfrost nipped at my seat, crossing the river and mounting the dale by morning ready to strike. O'er the crest we came with the dawn, war pipes awailing like the Ban'Sihde, the dogs were loosed the blades were drawn; we came to die or live to be free and fell on them at Ballantrae; the cry was havoc, the shout was heard last remnant of the spoken word. Morrighu! Morrighu! Morrighu! |
