Mikey and The Strangers
By Paul Wilson

Abandoned when he was just three days old
How will he survive this winter so cold
Hoping his mother would come back real soon
All alone he waits…under the full moon

Searching for his mother as days go by
She never comes back…and he wonders why
Then one day while lying in the warm sun
Something grabbed him…he had no time too run

Scared and frightened…he tried to get away
He cried and cried for the rest of the day
Splash…he hit the water it felt so good
Refuge he found under a piece of wood

Where was this strange place he found himself in
Wishing his mother would come back again
The days went by and he began to grow
Lonely and still missing his mother so

The strangers always brought food too eat
Once a week they would give him a real treat
He was living a life of luxury
Thanks he said to the strangers that found me

Then the strangers gave him a name one day
Mikey…the turtle sure sounded okay
Shortly after this… nothing was the same
With him strangers sometime would play a game

They’d put him in the floor… setting him free
he would chase them as happy as could be
We played for hours everybody knows
Me chasing them… trying to bite their toes

Mikey is my name I’m big, mean and bad
Don’t mess with me, I’mking of this lilly pad
Since the day I let the stranger catch me
I never really wanted to be free

Inspired by my two grandsons and a turtle
I may develope this story line into a childrens book. Any advise would be appreciated.
