Box of Paradox

Lavender scents permeate
the box where I dwell

In relaxation pose,
I sit cross-legged,
palms facing heaven
in meditative practice,

Still I own a vague sense
I have nothing to offer your
great mind

Would a single apothegm convince
you there is more to me than flesh?

Considering you as your words,
I saw my savior
from eternal damnation
to flimsy cardboard walls
that hold me

Did you enjoy playing guru?

In intense thought,
I analyze your string
of disconnected
philosophies,

My mind stings of numb
confusion

You are indeed an honest paradox...

An oxymoron,
releasing only witty
repertoire in quips,
once that I swallowed
your words to have and to hold.

Did I believe you could set me free?

This moment’s meditation
finds only discontent
with your teachings

And though I throw
up my hands as shield
to protect me from
disillusionment

I know no avail

Thus I release your words
to the universe and take up my own,

Finding myself outside the box...
the box you created for me.

Good for you Patricia! Step outside the box and reclaim your own self and self worth. Very well written piece. Enjoyed. hugs, Chris
