Puppet’s Plea

lift me
my wires are
broken

I am the puppet
who failed

denied a wish
a life
who never knew
the promise
did not apply
to me

I believed
believed
cut my cords
and
fell
reduced
sprawled to sticks
all slack and
lacking

life
nonexistent
gift
ungiven

oh I do still
believe
I promise to
believe
but
please oh please

just lift me
string me
paint my
smile again
give back the
semblance
let me be
a puppet again

even that
a mercy
to this

I can't pick my favorite part of this heartwrenching plea... for every line fits perfectly into a whole that bleeds anguish and weeps yearning...

oh I do still
believe

I do know that this "got to me" most... the kernel of belief that's buried within us in spite of all dreams dying... in spite of being willing to "settle" just to have anything at all. Absolutely excellent write!

Thank you, Shadows...that's it exactly.

Yep, Suthern lass, I pretty much down in the dumps last night....guess it showed, eh?

A great write, how I also often wish to be led without thought.

Hey Leader of the Rats...

I like the way you repeated part of the
lines in here. It was different, and I like
different. I think I'll keep it.

You are no puppet!  Puppets cannot hurt like this.

Mr. Ed....

Not the horse... the Rat leader.
Yeah, I heard about this job out
in California. Between "whatcha talkin'
'bout, and Conan I think you have an
excellant chance. Why not a poet..?
