The One

You are the one
I’ve never met,
the voice
I’ve never heard,
I know you not
by your face
or your eyes
but already I am in love
with the very thought of you.

You are the friend,
the lover
I have never touched,
yet, you touch my heart
by existing in this world.
And, I know that one day
you will hold me with patient embrace
and whisper kindred dialects
that only our souls can hear.

All the pieces of lifetimes before
shall fall into perfect place
and the moon shall weep in smiles
for a love story written in the stars
by God's very hand.

Yes, I know you
beyond forever and a day
and I must confess
that I shall love you at first glance.

Now, this is the song of heart.  To think that all surpasses the need for words themselves, and to listen to the eyes speak, the touch of hands, the inner whispers even when the voice is silent...

ah little one...this SPOKE to me.

Wonderful poem, Melissa. I too wait with hope for "the one". This one reached me today...

This is the triumph of hope over reality, and I pray it turns true for you.
Beautifully done.

the mere imagination of such a soulful connection is at once; intensely personal and chillingly passionate...thanks for sharing it so beautifully!
