There Was A Time

Copyright 2003 by:Mark V Sheldon

…when my fingers collected your warmth
and could trace the lines of your face

rather than the edges of this cold paper

…when I could breathe your fragrance
and find myself suspended in Realities

rather than find my reality suspended

…when you filled my arms with hope
and my heart with promise

rather than my mind with questions

…when writing was for you, to you
and about you

rather than because of you

…when your voice inspired my music
and your laugh my spirit

rather than remembering

…when our lips were locked
and our bodies united with each other

rather than another

…when will we be again
and will we know better next time

rather than this…

A 20 plus some...and some more.  Honest and wrenching...it speaks well of the loss...and the hope for reunion.

Well done, Mark

Sunshine, thank you for the read.  There are some things that beg more than 20 words...

Raph:  Really?  Definitely not my best, but it wanted out so thanks for the support.

Nancy:  Yes, that "place kept hidden"...  sometimes should remain so, but at other times needs some sunlight and fresh air...  I'm touched that you were...  Thank you.

Q:  ...as in...  vodka...??? (Makes me wonder...)

passing shadows:  ...yeah...

Crystal...  Thank you for the .

Deb:  My condolences...  but thank you just the same...

Maureen:  ...I guess many of us can, unfortunately...  Thank you for the "always".

Ron:  The learning part is paramount.  Thanks for the consistant reads.

minoune:  Thank you for the kind words...  By definition lessons are retrospective, and I guess that's the part that sucks...

Oh Mark, I hope you are not living my miserable reality now. Cause this is just how I feel. But excellent work, as always.
Peace

Sandra...  I hate to hear that...  No, I am not, but given some triggers, the past becomes the momentary present with all the vividness of never having changed...   s to you, my friend.
