woman....

get a grip..

take five and breathe now.........

the sea is rising for you

your eyes are yellowed with jaundice
they feed from you like bloodsuckers,

and you are wilting........

your breasts are drooping,
weary of their tireless demands

breathe sister........
l - l0,
exhale.........

leave this place,
if only in a mindflight......

you wear the rubberstamp of womanhood
inked with guilt and martrydom,

is this really our birthright?

break free and come along with me;
i can show you the way inside there,

the sea is calling now
her waves form a bed under the moonlight,

on her respite, lay your head now

she is pleading with you,
to save yourself.....

won't you even acknowledge her existence?

********* to a tired homegirl in the sunshine state*

I forgot to post a reply to this when you first posted..

Now I'm ashamed..

But this write is one of your best, and that's hard to say..since all of yours are astoundingly good..

I'm putting it in my library.

Many a day I needed to do this when my kids were teens and my hubby was away on a business trip.  Ahhhh!

Thank you for writing this. It is a great reminder to all women to take time for themselves.

Reread it a few times and it truly is "girl" poem but not bad from the male perspective.
