I filled my palms with water
gathering gorgeous drops
on their way down
from the getting-on-rusty
tap

I pulled my palms
towards my mouth
took a throat-full
of the cold nectar
on that 38 degree
day

as I quenched my thirst
a little bit, I looked down
at the ground and saw that
a few drops had slipped
finding their way
through my
palms

you can’t have them all
I thought
as I went for
take 2 of the
quenching

~

somehow, I think that, bottled water takes away the fun, at least a shade

38 degrees Celcius makes 100.4 degrees Fahrenheit... That's certainly hot! I had to take a bit of a take at first though, because "38 degrees" means just above freezing here in Ohio

We haven't had too hot of a summer here, but I celebrate the wonder of thirst-quenching water with you!

I would agree with you if the water came from a spring, river, waterfall, or other source of natural fresh water, but chlorinated, fluoridated, rusty tap...???  I guess if it's REALLY hot, maybe...  (Nice imagery though, true to your style...)

Nothing better than a good plunge to pull up the well water - clear, cold, and makes a new person out of you - I swear!
