I watched him
eating popcorn
and thought that I
might just as well
attach a feedbag to his face...
He grew two more inches overnight.
and MY GOD WHAT IS THAT NOISE?
ARTILLERY...egads!
he's building bombs--
I rush to his room
to discover
him
at his computer...
farting
into MY microphone
(when did he sneak that in here?)
amplifying
and adding echo
until he aptly
finds the soundtrack
for this war of growth
within his bowels...

I heard a strange voice
in the house one night
and realized that the man
lurking within
was HIM--
the voice of the choirboy
forever gone
and I feel sorrow
and pride--
TORN
between mourning and celebration...

Who is this man that calls me MOM?
Soon
he'll tower over me
but always
ever
I will pray
that we see eye to eye.

Karen, ooooh thanks for the many laughs within this. you really suck me in to your writes, you always have a great mix of humour and seriousness...no matter how tall, i'm sure you will. stay on his level, fart into the microphone with him, i know i would.

Instant karma's gonna get you.

Karen...this is so poignant...and so funny at the same time...I know this place where you are shaking your head and feeling your heart break at the same time with love.  I love this, and the memory it brought back to me of, count them.....one, two sons.  Ain't they beautiful!

Tier?

Kris is back there working on her anime'--the child is FOCUSED I tell ya.

and aren't you just the lovely surprise?

I have her to thank for making me look--
both of my kids will tell you--I AM oblivious at times.

Had she not went berzerk at seeing the title of your poem, I might not have had the opportunity to get to know you better, so she gets brownies tonight.

(um...my non-herbal variety of brownies, good people--sigh. Why do I feel a need to explain that? chuckles and winks)

Hugs to all and especially Tiersdin.
