Ashes - Ashes
~*Grandma Poet*~

Ring around the roses
such a happy sound
Ashes ... Ashes
all fall down~

Delaney's in the meadow
making merry with some rhyme
Bet she'll be a poetess
in her own sweet time~

*And yes, she's talking up a little storm*
She now calls me Grandma Poet
I just SMILE~

~*The pen of the poet never runs out of ink, as long as we breathe.*~

She's as cute as a button and I can't believe she's talking already!  Gosh, she is growing like a little weed.

Bet if Grandma has her wishes, she'll be reciting poetry sooner than later.

Put a pen tween those tiny fingers and off she goes the youngest little poet around. Takes after her Gramma.... She is a lovely little flower in Grandma's garden of love.

How sweet, Grandma Poet! Must be the same song as our "Ringel Ringel Reihe ...".

No doubt about it...for it is in the genes.  My 12 year old sits under the tree in the shade, writing 'til her pen runs dry.  My four year old, constantly making merry with rhymes...asking for my approval, "Mommy, mommy, listen to my rhyme...I can say poetry."

The girls love Delaney.  I call them over to see her every time you post a pic.

Smiling at you!
Patricia

Such a happy poem, at first I didn't know what it was about but then we sing atishoo atishoo we all fall down. Trivia time. Did you know the song was originally sung about the plague. The ring of roses was the rash, the pocket full of posies was the lumps that came up in the glands. The atishoo was the sneezing just before death.

It never ceases to amaze me that such a morbid subject has survived into a children's rhyme.

Loved this version of it.
