Once More

The poet exhales
                pussy-willow thoughts as
pungent humid air stifles creativity

While the yellowtail opens
closes
                                  opens
closes
                                  with thought of flight

and the Rose ’o Sharon had
                                  already passed on.

Poet, mute as the insect
                                  licks her soul

and readies for the battle
of will over rejection…

filling the inkwell once more.

You forgot the last line....where the poet flies!

and readies for the battle
of will over rejection…

Ready for the battle with my pen in hand.
But my will neglects to hear my command.

I stuggle tonight...can't get it "write". Perhaps a matter of stage fright?

I think I shall go back for another read of this verse full of beautiful images and lovely flow...
and then I'll see what happens when I give it another go.

Yes ma'm, much enjoyed!

Thank you, everyone.  I wish I had been fast enough to get a photo with the swallowtail's wings opened...but she was too quick for me!

Oh, how I can relate! Stifling, steamy air and it not only affects creativity, it affects everything.

This photo is magnificent. My Rose of Sharon bushes are just blooming. I must go out later when the sun moves lower and check for butterflies.

I so love your writing and pictures.
