I walked with you into the night
naked I was
as I proclaimed romance
you must not have heard me
for you only laughed
maybe it was a passing thought
not wanting to know
changed the subject to
coming storm

I walked with you when
you cried
of love and loss
for some reason mine
the only available shoulder
or the neon sign
affixed to my forehead

I walked with you when you
fell sick
old and frail
whispering of failing health
I helped you to your door
and said good night

Never once did you
comment of my loyalty
insane devotion
for it had become demanded
remembering the time
I felt sick
and couldn’t help you
so you showered guilt
on me for hours

I walked to where they rested
your head
marble stone
cold ground
I cried but strangely not for you
realizing that with your
passing
my life was my own
again

Brad, sometimes parents are so afraid of being alone, they mentally choke their children.  It does not excuse their behavior, but understanding can help us cope. At least that's how I deal with it on my end.

This poem was a bit difficult to read because it did hit kind of close to home.

I'm glad that you have been granted your freedom. You deserve it.

Good Poem.

Brad, this really touched my heart.
Sometimes people can be so demanding of
the time of others.
Hugs to you

literally or conceptualy it caused me both thought and emotion...enjoyed.

Live like it's your last day...
Dance like nobody's watching...
Love like you've never been hurt...

Darn! I thought you were talking about a dog. Very heartfelt and a little too real.

Here in the midst of my lonely abyss, a single joy I find...your presence in my mind.  Unknown

Brad, this is a sad, but powerful piece. Whoever this was, NOW she or he knows what you have done. To care and to share love generously is always right, whether there is an earthly reward or not. We must not expect anything in return, even though sometimes this may hurt.
Maybe the connection with this person now will continue on higher levels and soothe your heart.
As much as life can be demanding at times, our hearts can feel free ...
Love, Margherita

Dan,

Ohhh that makes it even better...hmmm interesting isn't it?  Maybe in the end we do get what we deserve just not always from the people who should be giving it.  Karma?

Hugs,
Susan
