Oh prophet my prophet
What will become of the somber lunatics
And the blithe retards
Who will give them cigarettes?
When I’m in jail for drunk driving

Oh sweet sad soothsayer
Who will ride their bikes through town with paper bags
Wrapped around their breakfast
Who will pay the dope dealers?
When I’m cold, fixed in a bathroom stall

Oh my fortune teller
Who will keep the sidewalks warm wintry nights?
And in the cold pines
Who will start the forest fires?
When jealousy gets the best of me

WOW! I thought it would be about jealousy, but never expected the powerful images and the pain between the lines!

Whether on the shoal or on the shore,
I'll seek the lighthouse evermore.

You did a great job with this...
Sharp, clear...well metered. TD
