Quietly
I roll it down
the colors of my laughing legs
weary feet
to wriggle free--
beneath the black of pantyhose
cherry red
of sparkling
painted on
the nails of toes--

I should not have danced last night.
The back is bad and I've grown old.

Where's my pillow?
Grant me sleep.
may my mind tell stories bold--
flicker frames upon the lids
of my eyes
I shed the clothes
spray the sheets with bergamot
and hum the tunes of Norah Jones
as I pray this silent prayer--

that I might dance in my dreams--
begging Gods I'll find you there.

Serenity...
This poem is sensuous and yet sad at the same time, to bad this guy didn't follow you home...I know I would have tried......:-)
The poem has great form and rolls off the lips in fine rhythm, I like the line about spraying the sheets with bee-balm.
Perhaps to sooth the stings of consciousness, and allow you to dance more freely in your dreams?

"painted on
the nails of toes--"

Mine are red at the moment as well...

"spray the sheets with bergamot"

Bee balm?? What is that?  And why don't I know about it??

"and hum the tunes of Norah Jones"

Norah....sigh...got to love Norah...she was here in June and I didn't have anyone to go with...next time I am giving you a call Karen!!

Beautiful writing...sad, lonely and still the love of old holds on...

I feel you and send loving comfort your way..

Oh geesh!  Here I go...love to dance.
And, whether it be in dreams or while awake
the toes must have paint of cherry red!
Wonderful write...much enjoyed.

Karen...this just weeps of emptiness...I felt every word.

May your dreams hold all the answers to your prayers.

Dance...

Love you, lady..

Karen, are you awake now? Hello???

I loved this poem, SereneOne, and I felt it, too.
It had a longing in it for someone....I do hope
that you found the someone in your dreams..
Hugs, my friend

sighs and smiles.

Guess who went out last night?

After the third shot of cuervo, I forgot all about my broken tooth. After the fifth? I forgot about the busted bone in me arse. Then after I lost count altogether, a biker friend "dipped" me while dancing, and it all came back to me. *wince*

SO....guess who is back in retirement tonight?

And yes, I missed my baby too. (sneak attack, madviking )

And next time I go looking for my heart's desire, I think I'll go looking in my own hardrive.

Thanks for reading, and pass me the aspirin please...

sigh. I really am too old for this shtuff.

Serenity... I hope you had sweet dreams.
You've got to quit hanging out with those biker guys, all the want to do is get you drunk and take you for a ride on their Harley...LOL...Paul

Without women, there would be few bright lights in the world of men.

Sorry you have to push this lesson so hard to learn it, but who amongst us has not said, "Never again god, if you please just get me through this."

I had a friend long ago who wrote on the bottom of his toilet seat "Welcome back fool" just to remind him that he had been hugging the bowl before.

At least you apparently made it home; I woke up (came to) once on a train hundreds of miles from home.  Some "friends" thought it would be funny.

It is a good poem and well written; thank you for sharing it.

Smiling at you, serenity...and how you can laugh at the pieces of your life, and still, make the ache so real and human.  Thats one of the many reasons why so many find you amazing.

smiling at you all (especially icebox--wince at that practical "joke")

I don't go out very often anymore--but when I do, I generally know the barowners, the band and at least twenty people in the crowd.
I seem to have a team of people watching over me these days.

sigh. It takes a village for me to party now.

Thanks once more for reading.
