Fair? Time

If you let me out
What a display I would make
Waiting to strut…Me
My one, shining, brief moment
I have waited for this time

It is your Fair time
But it is my time to shine
Your hand strokes my nose
You gaze long into my eyes
Our souls, connecting, as one

Your inner you rides
And I would lope pastures green
A pair we would make
You with the wind in your hair
And I, with my heart in flight

I can't bear the site of such a magnificent animal in a cage. When i went down to the fair the last time I wanted nothing more than to see the horses until i saw them in their cells..broke my heart

To be free is all she
and I wish to be
I don't know if he or she...
But I do know the wish to be free.

I loved this, Karilea.

Karilea, I have a thing with horses and animals in general . . . last time I took Billy to the zoo, I cried (I know nice stable mother) because it was all just so awful and when I see the horse trailers, in the heat of the summer . . . God . . .
I always have this vision of a horse running wild and free . . .
this is lovely
thank you

How wonderful..yet sad.  To be able to run wild and free must be a yearning for all animals.
Wonderful horse...beautiful poem...
and yes, I am back!
~Hugs YOU!~

"Watch how people treat animals -- they'll treat their pets better than they'll treat you."

Oh, does this ever speak to me--the poem, you, and the horse!

Very light and fun!!!

love the pairing of "your inner you" with the horse and the idea that the horse is anxious to be a vision of beauty

Whether on the shoal or on the shore,
I'll seek the lighthouse evermore.

Oh wow, isn't this the truth? You're right, I did enjoy it   I'm putting it in my library... methinks you should get a horse judging by this poem

My one regret...
was to never have a horse
own me, fully.

Thank you all for your wonderful comments!
