inside me
is a cobble-stone road
and the stones are
bearing their weight
on my heart
heaving
heavily

desperation
deposits itself
silt-like
uninvited
like
regret

I
reach out
in the dark
groping
for a rope
that will
pull me
out
of this hole

something tells me
no rope will do
I need a ladder
and
a firm ground
to lay it on
and
an honest wall
to support it

quick
I need it quick
for the weight
of the stones
is
pulling me under
down
into the sinking
bottom
of this black lake
on the surface
of which
the moon
smiles
wickedly

no
evil is not the moon
it is
just one of those
things
like quicksand
soft and inviting
the more you push it
the more you are dragged
in it

soft like love

like a puppy
I tugged the leash
only to learn
the more you pull
the more you hurt
your neck

the power of
love
is a leash

freedom is
in the unleashing

but
who knows that
poison kills
unless
tasted

yet
not all that is
sour
is
poison

Wow... I love your free verse, Sudhir. This is great!

"reach out

It's amazing how right on you are about this.  The feeling is that of helplessness. Kinda like a bad dream as well. Very well written!

Sudhir

Stirring and edgy...filled with anxiety, yet with the unreal quality of a dream.  Well done!

(big hugggssssssss) God Bless You, sweet friend, this sounds stone cold, yet when the surface is solid as a rock, it is easy to run onward and at the end of the road you are bound to find smooth ground to welter on! (sigh) This is so eloquently said, sweet friend, I love it, we all love you so much! You have such a beautiful heart, sweet Sudhir, thank you for sharing!

May love and light always shine upon you!

So that's what you've been doing? Moving from India to Belgium?!? May you grow and prosper in your new home!

I hope this poem is not representative to how you are feeling at the present time, but if it is, you spilled your emotions down the page, very poetically!
