Here I am,
Face turned to the wind,
Summer breeze
Flowing on my skin,
Feel the sun
Last ray of the light
See the dark
Soon will be the night.

All the warmth has passed me by,
As I darken like the sky,
Accustomed don’t need to cry,
All I give is a slight sigh.

Here I go
Drifting off with my thoughts,
To the dark
It is where my soul is brought,
Mars is close
Blood red crossing through the sky,
Off I walk
To shadows as war is nigh.

Gloom
Mars, the red planet, named after the God of War,
is at it’s closest to earth in many years.
Whereas the Ancients believed in the influence of the planets
On the condition of things on the Earth,
I sure it’s merely coincidence that American is involved in so much conflict,
Like Afghanistan, Iraq, Liberia, and North Korea;
merely coincidence.

Wonderful poem and so moving. Your melancholy is so deeply felt. How beautiful our red planet to observe now!
Mere coincidence that wars are going on? Yes probably, but who knows for sure? Electromagnetism can do things to our psyche ... It seems that God Mars never relaxes?
I think it is a question of awakening to the energy of love which IS.
Library!

smiling at your list of  "coincidences"--and the witch in me is nervous about September--I'll have to check the charts but I do believe Mercury retrograde will in opposition to Mars next month.

makes me kinda jumpy--

thanks for the read, and the thoughts, PG.

even if it does spook me.

I loved this. My hubby and I were outside last night looking at it and we've borrowed a friend's telescope to see it up close and personal at the end of the month.

Professor - it seems that for me, the best time to see Mars is early in the morning.  It hangs in the south-southeast of where I live, and this morning the moon was full and beautiful - but did not detrack from the brightness of Mars, which was to the left of the full moon.

If there were ever a month for star and planet gazing - now is the time.
