S(wallowing) Thoughts

Skin and bones, I swallowed my thoughts
wondering why each time she battles one war
another confronts her....this one
I am not so sure she will win.

No tears this time, no shoulders to cry on,
no one to share my grief,
just a matter of fact talk with myself
and a wish that time was on her side.

I would even give up some of mine if it would
comfort the scared look in her eyes.

So I ride home in silence, with just the rain
and strangers keeping me company.

I sit here feeling sorry for myself...
grasping at straws, knowing she got the short one
and wishing I could trade it in...

I've seen that look, it is given to the close ones.  But I think the comfort comes only from within.
I'm sorry that you are alone in this.
Thanks for sharing.
