How long is it now?
Since you sprang from the ground.

Two, three hundred years ago you burst out, with no sound.

Here you have grown for so long, surrounded by your own kind, and what memories you must have of years gone by?

Spring and summer months bathed in sunlight, energy coursing through you, into your highest branches, reaching for the sky.

Wet windy autumn, soaking your leaves, blasted to the ground, decaying at your feet.

Bare in winter, starkly spectral, closed down, covered by snow, a thick ice sheet.

What changes must you have witnessed;people, transport and climate.
But against all this, you survive in you own quiet way...

thats a pretty cool way to see how much has really changed...that was great

I feel rain pouring down. I wait to rot away,
Live again, here forever, the spiral never ends.   Godsmack

Dear Rose of Golden Hues, I do believe that you may have been a tree in one of your past lives! You have such a deep understanding of our arboreal friends!

Phil,
you know I always am amazed by trees . . .
what they have seen, heard and thought
Oh, to be a tree . . .
(I think you just gave me an idea)
Yes, beautiful writing

When I see a tree..I think how many people before me had sit near that same tree, how many birds made their home there, how many sesons, years that tree has endured, and then I think after I am dead and gone, that tree will still be here, season after season living on and on.....they are beautiful in every season...all the leaves and their colors, the winter and seeing their outline covered with snow, summer..watching the leaves dance on the wind..so green and full of life...without trees we couldn't live, they help us to breathe....
These are the thoughts that came to me while reading your poem....
I am sure if they could speak, they would thank you for your love for them!

Your poem invites my brain to think and my heart to feel, my soul to breathe...
xxxx love ARH
