Concertina-like,
you sailed the sea, sowed the land,
all, with your feet on the ground

For you heard some music on the wind
and the tinkle of your laughter
hung the moon from starry skies ~
                          my father's search was over

You looped my life
wove me into your cloth
and sat me up above the world.

"Sing with the world, would you, my dear
                then whisper love notes kind
tell me ever is in your heart
and love me for what is mine"

And I will love you for what
you have suffered below these southern stars
getting accustomed to me

Still you dream your fantasies for me
they sail the winds and love the seas
you've never failed me, nor love's glory
to regale me with never-ending stories.

Now an accursed fate fallow lies
in the pit of your breast, and you, terrified,
trudge along with legs that fail the frail of you.

My mind brings the young you back
as my own hands braid our poetry
even though we've lost the rhyme
for time has skipped our heartbeats.

I remember how you used to run
among the leaves with hungry feet,
how your peppercorn hair
sprung and measured life
after me...

                You always said heaven
                    was but a step away
my dearest heart, this, I know
for I heard God whisper it so.

love the title and everything about it...
I love this verse
"For you heard some music on the wind
and the tinkle of your laughter
hung the moon from starry skies ~
   my father's search was over"

That title  just won't leave me alone..I feel some inspiration  tugging at my skirt

wonderful to see a duet by you two.

Beyond good.....this is beauty times two.

When two voices like yours combine, it's simply a joy to read. Thanks to each of you for writing this, and thanks to both, since the combining creates a third personality with its own voice.

How did I miss this???

What a beautiful picture you two paint. I can easily imagine a mother carefully braiding her daughter's hair while telling her just how special she is and the daughter letting her mother knows how much she is loved.

I could be wrong. But this is what I saw as I read.

Loved this!

Tier - when Maree and I decided to duet...our first obstacle was to find a theme, as usually poets need to have some common denominator with which they are familiar.  [Before someone comes in here to say, what about "point/counterpoint"...there is that, too.]

LOL...anyway, I have seen Maree write wonderful poetry of mothers, and motherhood...so tossed out to her a thought to that idea to get us kick-started.  She glommed on to that idea and ran with it...

we have both used the term "braiding" in past poetry - again, another common denominator.  I was thrilled that I had her time, and talent, to mix up some words with her...she is an uncommonly remarkable poetess, and it was a good experience to fly high with her.  I would suggest everyone here attempt a duet with that gal...she's very special!

Thanks, everyone, for reading.  We truly did enjoy our time!

Hi poet friends, thank you all for stopping by and for all your lovely replies and compliments.
I was so excited when Karilea and I were going to start our duet, that I didn’t know where to start LOL, even though we had had a plan.

I know you have a lot of things on and happening Karilea but you always make time and I want to thank you for your time; you are a sensational poet and I’m honoured to have had the opportunity and experience dueting with you sunshinygirl and anytime you feel you’d like to again just SHOUT hehe.

Hugs and love you
