standing on a shadow's lace

Unbreak Me

moons have passed
and I still
hear your pain
in silence
do you think
I do not know
               I run to
               the rain as
               a hiding place
               for my tears
               tranquil violence
               for a heart
how can you
hold someone’s soul
to feel them
rush you by
lingering on breeze
               I ache in hush
               holding nothing
               but the loneliness
               left with being
               a weaver woven
               in reverse
quiet lace unraveled
leaving bare threads
dangling unstrung
how much more
can be taken
               unbreak me
               please unbreak me
               and maybe
               once again we
               can both
               be whole

smile.

Even in the myth of Pandora, there was hope left in the box.

You just spoke that to me.

thank you

Helen, though this is sad, it is so beautiful.
This part really touched my heart.....

               I ache in hush
               holding nothing
               but the loneliness
               left with being
               a weaver woven
               in reverse
quiet lace unraveled
leaving bare threads
dangling unstrung
how much more
can be taken

Hugs to you, sweet lady

Breaking

My heart
can never break,
can't be crushed or battered.
What would be the use? You can't break
gravel.

A beautiful piece of writing, Helen.....and no, you can't unring the bell, but there are other things that can be done.....as you know so well.

I've read a few of your poems now and although this is the first to which I am posting a reply, one thing is clear - you have a beautiful way of letting your emotions flow out in your words and the imagery you set for yourself and your readers.  Thank you for sharing.

This is a really strong poem, evoking a lot of feelings. Good work.
