Windowpain

Colours pretense paints the prince
golden road paved through frame,
and I, hands open high
bend into his save.

But, this is just illusion
and fate has not yet bestowed upon me
the wings of a butterfly.

Regret pales this kaleidoscope of life
as I am surrounded by the hands
of a thousand clocks ticking on my soul
that "too late" is fast approaching.

My heart has too many blank pages
from books I never sought to read
like an unopened window of opportunity
made from fragile eyed glass
ready to shatter without warning
from tears that smear the windowpain.

Seeing through the window to your pain, as you've described it so well.  And I just want to say I appreciate how well you've written about it.  ~K~
