Between the Lines

A Farewell Glance

I paint the sky in shades of you
the past in grays, the now in blue.
The magic held once in a glance
had pierced my heart, farewell romance,
"Goodbye" say eyes, when willed the chance.

The sweetest words from tip of tongue
enlivened once, when I was young,
but as the years fare well their time
I glance my last of you in rhyme
and take to hike, my world in climb.

A love once thought, in faded fall
memories may write their scrawl
and leave behind their glance of word
in silent stillness never heard,
swallowed by the feelings blurred.

A farewell glance, my thoughts in hold,
folded treasure once of gold.
Tarnished, placed on shelf behind
out of sight and out of mind,
my heart once twisted, realigned

To paint the sky in shades of new.
To glance the fare, no clouds, just blue.
The pure of which brings all that's true.
Farewell I say, farewell to you.

M

M, I needed this. I'm in that middle place I think, half remembering, half forgetting him. I sway between the two. This gives me hope, so Thankyou.

So many great lines, can't quote them all.

I soon hope to wake up and see the blue.

Into my library.

I sincerely love it when we trip over a milestone without fanfare - because somehow, the words are so very special in and of themselves, and it's like finding quiet treasures...

Congratulations on your 9,000th post, Maureen.  You've come a long way...but then, we knew we all would, when we found such an awesome group of poetic friends, didn't we?
