Jack-in-the-box was lonely, He popped up and down all day. He never opened his mouth up, He didn't have much to say. Children would grab the handle, And wind it around and around, But all that was heard was the music, For he never uttered a sound. One day, sad Jack heard laughter, He popped out of his box to see, Right on the floor beside him, Was a pop-in-a-box like he! The lid was down and hiding, The face of his friend to be. Jack reached and turned the handle, To see what he could see. Up popped a head so lovely, Taking his breath away; Curls of pink and ruby lips, And eyes that lit up his day. He blushed when he did see her, His frown became a smile, Polka dots, on hat and gown ~ That Jill-in-the-box had style! Jack and Jill were happy As they held each other's hand.
