Take a walk

Take a walk in my shoe’s
well you really don’t wear shoe’s because your feet turn
you really don’t walk because your legs don’t work

Instead of using my feet
I use a wheelchair
my wheels are my legs

But do not envy me
because I can do a lot
I can play sports such as basketball, and track
I’ve won over 6 gold medals in track

I have many friends
they bring out the best in me
they help me as well
when I’m down I can turn to them

Three years ago my dad died
he was a loving man
I follow in his foor steps
I live everyday like its everyone else

Last 5 years
I’ve been in school
Last year was the hardest
because I moved to a different school

There no one understood me
they told me that I couldn’t go to college
I didn’t listen to them
Because now I’m living my dream

All though, my body might give me troubles
Doctors will find a cure someday
may not be today or tomorrow
But someday

I have a dream
to walk one day
all by myself

So that I can wear shoe’s
I hope that you’ve enjoyed walking in my shoes
Remember,
everyone has their own battles

For if you meet someone with a battle
They’ll tell you how it is to walk in their shoe’s as well.

This poem is about me, when I was 6 months old I was dianosed with Riegers Syndrome. As you can see that I use a wheelchair. If you'd like to email me you're welcome too. I also have AIM: BlUe OpAl2003.

what can you say other than this is very inspiring

I feel rain pouring down. I wait to rot away,
Live again, here forever, the spiral never ends.   Godsmack

I have a good friend who indeed fits "your" shoes...and I think I have as much reason to be as proud of you as I am of her.  She didn't let anything get in her way - she finished school, went on to college, moved away from home and found a good position to earn her way through life.  Now she is retired, and is one of our poets here at Passions.  I've sent her this link - I wouldn't be surprised if she comes in soon and says Hello!

Hi Track Queen!

I'm the friend that Sunshine referred to above and I do wear shoes like yours labelled Quickie.  I was glad to see your poem and hope to see more of your writing.

I'm sure that you will achieve your dreams and more.  Your track record is a great indicator.

Welcome to Passions in Poetry.  I love hanging out here.

Shenachie

More poems will be coming up soon, I thought this poem was very good because it says how I live my life. I've been in a wheelchair since I was 5, but it doesn't bother me. I'm still a person!
