I accepted you on your terms
because it worked for me
and sounded good to you
daring to believe that I finally understood.

After putting myself out there
waiting for the sun to shine
as the rain fell down
tossing and turning beneath the sheets.

Warm in the cleansing
as lightening struck the sky
filled with the emptiness
that has drained me so many times.

Alone again and self absorbed
ultimately, taking flight in my own happiness
soaring within the confines of my limitations
and the joy that bares my heart.

Self-absorbed is a good way to be at times! It can be very healing!

~ and btw, there are no confines to your spirit! You soar!

you've allways had this smoothness in your writing that I envy. while I write with my shock effect and irrelevance, everything you write blends so perfectly

It does take a third level, doesn't it? That's the real trick. Easy to find someone who wants to make themselves happy, and almost as easy to find someone who wants to make you both happy. But it's oh so hard to find someone whose happiness will reside in yours, who wants happiness, yes, but won't have it fully, unless it comes from giving you joy.

They're out there, but they're a lucky find.

Thank you all, for your positive thoughts and feedback.
We can only be all that we can be, and I am simply me.  *shrugging my shoulders*

Simply sounds so easy doesn't it, but it's sure a lot of work sometimes.

I do appreciate you all, more than you will ever know.

Hello, Lori
I've always thought that it's a great thing when we find this ability that you have found....to love ourselves enough to work at making out own selves happy. When we have accomplished that, we then have the ability to love someone else enough to make them happy, too. Sometimes the other person we love just hasn't accomplished that yet.
Does that make sense?

Hugs to you, my friend

it's funny Lori how the terms never seem to be mutual or a compromise...

well I've finally realized if someone can't meet me halfway, they weren't worth meeting at all.

Nothing wrong with being self absorbed...

It's been an emotional week, unlike any other week mind you.  I have so enjoyed my time in Maine, and those family ties that hold me close.  Thanks to you all for your continued support, and for all the kindness you have shown to me.

I'll catch up on my reading when I get back.  I swear, vacations never last long enough, seems I just got here, and I don't want to go home again....

Many many hugs...I feel truly blessed to be sharing the same page with the likes of you.

And I thank you, sincerely.

You know ... sometimes having the nerve to actually stay alone with yourself for long enough to understand your wants vs needs, is a gift.  I stayed there a bit too long, and love it in the company of one, as there is such a huge difference between being lonely and being alone. Oh, sorry did I say I got this, and liked it a lot? No!  Well I do.
