    WINTER

Clock,s gone back,
day,s half dark,
leaves are gone,
trees are stark.

Animals have no time to wait.
The wise among them hibernate.
Things of beauty cease to grow.
The North wind powders all with snow

Temperature gets lower and lower.
The frenzied cry of shut that door.
Collars up against the sleet.
Where oh where is Summers heat?

The earth around is dark and dire
as we huddle 'round the fire.
But after Summer's bitter sting
comes long awaited welcome Sring.

Very nice, makes me remember why I live in South Texas year round. Don't care for the cold and snow.

I live in deep South Texas, too, and I too admire snow from afar. It gets cold here, because it rains, and it's a wet cold, but snow is not something we see much of at all. I hear it glitters in the moonlight like a sparkle. I would love to see that once with my own eyes, but the cold...not partial to it.

Great write.  The summer's gone too fast already and I dread the thought of winter being just right around the corner!

When first of August comes around
I find myself looking up
and I watch the sun going down
as to the brim, I fill my cup...

Lovely, Maggie...

I enjoyed it so much, you inspired me!

Thank you all for reading. Here in Yorkshire UK we are having a few days of hot sunshine. Most unusual. We are used to plenty of rain. Snow is pretty when it first falls but soon turns to slush causing multable accidents. Maggie

Thank you James and Gem. Gem isn't always the same, we long for Summer and then complain of the heat. Wierd world. Maggie
