mischievous haunter!
dragging me from midnight slumber
to tread a black house
to sit on a black lawn

to sit in the strobe
of distant tempests
(heat, heat lightning)
why daddy, is your ghost
fond of troubling portents?

your death the fulcrum
(half of me past, half to come)
sharp, cutting the tether
(you had measured the length to chaos)
giving you rest that life would not

yet restless, you claw up
through tangled memory
flexing your muscles
cockerel, strutting into waking dream now
no man was ever stronger

in the end, weeping
unable to feed yourself
unable to accept fate
or to challenge it
no man was ever weaker

adulterous lecher
savior, savant
bad example, hero

living your myth
writing your epic
building your cross

your flung crown
tears at my brow, my eyes
cannot look away

until a child, my child
has found me in blackness

stand close my love
hear this promise
this burden I will not pass
strong and true
will I live and die

and only on darkest storm-tossed nights
will his cross and  crown
smear me with bitter blood

This was as powerful as the content described herein.  I hope serenity eases the segue to resolution and that the ghost may go on as the lives that have been affected...

As I read this piece, I remembered sifting through the ashes...
And I am so glad in my heart that these emotions can be written, and released here.
A powerful and exceptional write.

A powerful piece, indeed.

Others should see this one, methinks.

Enjoyed the dark stroll m'friend.
