It used to be I wrote my thoughts
while praying you would see
the needs that I could not express
The deepest want in me
But you just never had the time
I wasn't on your list
I wonder if you wonder what you've missed...

So many years, so many times
I felt such deep despair
The loneliness you handed me
became my daily fare
I tried to hold myself in check
to keep the promise made
But it wasn't worth the price we would have paid...

Now looking back through time's calm eyes
I see a different way
I see you as a friend, who shared my life along the way
But now it's full with one who gives me joy
and that is when
the words spill out, from heart to hand
So now I write for him...

Accept these small gifts from my gypsy heart  ~~S~~

Oh yes, to move on but still be able to reflect on the memories ... I know this feeling well.

And it had a happy ending, too ... gooody ... like that part the best.  Keep him for he listens.

Enjoyed.

You can bet he wonders -- and if he sees this poem, he will absolutely know, poor devil.....

I know that it is an old saying that as one door closes another opens. I hope that you will be happier through the new door. It is such a beautiful poem. Maggie

lovely write, and I have decided to no longer write for anyone but myself. At least you know your words are appreciated by someone.

Sunnyone

I just love this verse:

"Now looking back through time's calm eyes
I see a different way
I see you as a friend, who shared my life along the way"

I have felt this way many times and you said it so beautifully.  Thank you for sharing your thoughts with us.

--I have come to that place in my life as well. You expressed what is in my heart.

~ I am so please for you that you have now found true happiness! God bless you both!

A beautiful, healing write.

Hi BluesSerenade, and it yes, although he claims he is not a poet, he understands the workings of the art, and is there to bounce ideas off of.  Thank you for being here...~S~

Hi SharaRose, and I appreciate your reply, because it reminds me that in order to deserve the goodness in life, we have to give that same goodness to others...thank you so much...~S~

Hi passing shadows, and thank you!! All thumbs ups are very welcome here!!  ~S~

Hi Ratleader, and yes, he will probably see this poem.  It wasn't meant to hurt, but just a question I have always had...thank you for replying, as I love the feedback!! ~S~

Hi Maggie, and sometimes we have to go a long ways to find that new door, but when it opens, it's like sunshine on the other side!! Thank you, and I wish you much happiness too...~S~

Hi Maureen, and to know that you do appreciate these words is just what this writer enjoys!!  The sharing with family here is very fulfilling for any poet, eh?  ~S~

Hi angelblueyes, and thank you...it's nice to have you drop by for a read here!!  ~S~

Hi vandana, and I'm always glad to see you in reply...it means a lot to me...thank you so much...~S~

Hi Ariana, and yes...some of us have reached that point where the pain has been replaced with better feelings...I wish that for all of my friends, and I do so thank you for seeing what was important here...~S~

Hi Linda, and I also am very happy for you. It takes a lot of trying to reach that point, and it's not always a smooth road...we have to make it that way, I think.  Thank you, my friend, and I also wish you the very best of happiness!!  ~S~

Hi *~Tantalise~*, and thank you for stopping by to share some time with me here...~S~

Hi 'Kraw', and those are my favorite thoughts too...it's better to focus on the good parts of the past then to cast all of our efforts on the wrongs...thank you for sharing your thoughts with me!  ~S~
