Climbing over rounded weathered rocks
and piles of surf swept driftwood,
my eyes looking out to sea,
I find the essence that is me
that I lose while in the heart of the city.
The smell of salt air in my nostrils
awakens the heart of artist and dreamer
as it quiets the city screamer
whose eyes sting from the exhaust
of too many wheels on the road.

Stroll with me for a moment
on near-pristine sandy beaches,
'neath towering trees filled with birds
instead of under poles with zinging wires
and inhaling fumes that make one gasp
for a breath of fresh air.
In my hand rests a precious seashell.
I wander about it's life journey.
The gnarly piece of drifwood
nestled safely in my backpack awaits its turn
to become part of a kinetic sculpture.
I give these treasures of the land and the sea movement once again,
that they may move with the breeze
and delight the eyes of someone far away.
I pray that I may be gifted with the chance to share this moment in time
and reveal to all your senses
the true beauty and power of nature.

actually, I'm on vacation, at a friend's PC
I'll be home next Thursday, hopefully with another nature write. I am enjoying every moment on Vancouver Island.

Kasy, I am considering dropping everything and heading for the coast!  While I can't really do that, I can feel and taste and smell and see what awaits me when I finally get my chance.  Beautifully done!

. . . taking hold of you rhand for a stroll please? . . .

You know Kacy, the driftwood always
amazed me, I have a lot of it in my garden
as if they have tales to tell me . . .
and the shells I have . . .
have stories of their own

This is a meditative rest from reality
thank you

Ya know everytime I pick up a piece of driftwood now, I'm going to wonder if it was once in your backpack...

I can relate to the fresh air -- not much beats the Monterey Peninsula for that...  Have a wholesome vacation, Kacy.  Even when you're away, your really not -- that makes me smile.

Ah this is truly the sea I know and love, and I do believe your prayer will have been answered.

Peace to you as well.  Nice work.
