While sitting on a grassy knoll,
Looking out to sea,
A little girl passed me by,
Then stopped, and turned to me.

A bonnet laced with ribbons,
Crowned locks of gold so fair,
Her dress was of the finest silk,
And far beyond compare.

Her smile hinted mystery,
Her eyes belied her age,
Within their depths, I could see,
The knowing of a sage.

Fresh flowers in her basket,
Joined scent of nearby sea,
Reminding me of other times,
And of another me.

She gently placed her dresden hand,
On my flushing face,
'Twas then I knew, that she had come,
From far and distant place.

Pictures reeled through my mind,
Of rocky cliffs of Dover,
And visions of a little girl,
Frolicking in clover.

Emotion overcame me,
As she looked in to my eyes,
Our souls were reunited
As I came to realize.

I once had been the mother,
Of this precious little girl,
And in her joy of finding me,
She giggled and did twirl.

From time of our last parting,
Two centuries had passed,
But love had spanned across those years,
And forever it would last.

I felt a sense of coming home,
And as my vision cleared,
I reached arms out to hold her close,
And she simply disappeared.

Tears were streaming down my cheeks,
When I happened to see,
The flowers in the basket,
She had left there for me.

While sitting on a grassy knoll,
Looking out to sea,
A little girl passed me by,
Then stopped, and turned to me.

That was a great story, Linda. I love it when the past and present intertwine.

Chris ~

I'm pleased that you deemed it a "keeper".
It is going to a good home!
