I remember the days of my grandfather and I.
Of the times he held me, when I cried.
The things he showed, fascinated me.
He aspired me to be, whatever I wanted to be.
The weekends at his house I would stay.
I remember the countless times we played.
He read me stories every night.
And he loved me with all of his might.
He showed me his ways of the world.
Making me feel special, as his favorite girl.
Apple crisp he made with love.
And movie stars we used to dream of.
I would sleep in his tshirts when ready for bed.
On his shoulder I would rest my head.
I watched him wither over the years.
And watched him die with all of my fears.
So now I remember him in our own special way.
The love he gave me, has forever stayed.
My grandfather still means the world to me.
For without his love, who knows what I would be.
For he is my grandfather so precious to me.
And in my heart his image will always be.

I know what you mean!!! If I ever get down in the dumps, and blue all I have to do is think of grandpa, and his jolly ways, and how he never met a stranger. His smile, and loving ways toward everyone, and always kidding around always brings back my faith in humankind. He is long gone now, but not in my heart!!!!!!! A lovely, wonderful human being he was. Here's a for ya grandpa, and I
huggles, and kisses, to you Papaw!!!
Always...

Lord girl, let me wipe away my tears
so I can respond. Phew, this was a real
tear jerker, but so beautiful! I know that
your Grandfather is watching you from high
above and is so very proud of you. Just keep
him in your heart always as I know you will.
That's what I do with my Mom

Take care.

Angel,I was a Grandpa's girl too. There is no love like it, I think. Your emotion flows through here beautifully.

You certainly must have made your grandfather very proud and happy when you gave him this poem---You did give it to him, didn't you?

My grandfather used to make apple crisp for me as well!

Loves 'n hugs to you--and your grandfather!

Elizabeth:Yes we did and I hope that all little girls can feel this bond with their grandfathers. It was a joy, a learning experience, and love that will last me a lifetime.

EA:I have to say he didn't see this.I wasn't writng at that period in my life and he passed away shortly after.I've learned the hard way to always tell the ones you love how much you do.For life's too short.

very well written. Both of my grandfathers died before I was born, so I never got to have that kind of relationship. I envy you.. very good writing.
