Today came early
and brought pain,
as if it was a friend
for me to join in play;
it happens this way
from time to time.
It is one of life's little ways
of keeping me honest.
I used to think
that it was god's way of telling me
she is still angry
for the life I chose,
but who could hold a grudge
this long?
So, I decided I was wrong;
instead,
I look at days as these
as if I won a lottery,
in reverse.

Great lines! Winning the lottery in reverse..
That, I'll remember.

Hell that no fury like a woman?

Had to smile at your choice of gender for God...is that to be "politically correct" or because we women are so good at grudges? LOL

Clever write of analogy poet sir

"How could I stand here with you and not be moved by you."

This seems like a positive thing to do...makes me think of the signs in Maui which pleased me to see...instead of saying "DO NOT DRIVE DRUNK!"...they say, "Thanks for driving sober".  A whistle day is this kind of attitude..you don't need lessons.  I do hope you're feeling better though.

Kaoru ~ Glad you liked it.  Thanks for telling me.

Janet Marie ~ *laugh* What you say about women is true.  You guys sure can hold a grudge!  God?  No, I am about as far from "politically correct" as a human can get and still be allowed to walk the streets freely.  It is just that the idea of god has always made more sense to me as a female god.  Just a quirk.  Thank you for your thoughts.

serenity blaze ~ You say that to all old fat men I bet; especially if they are dressed in a red suit!  *laugh*

Enchantress ~ Uh-oh, does that make me like laryngitis for the mind??? *laugh* Thank you for your time in reading and for letting me know.

Bonfirelight ~ I admit it, I love to play with titles.  Thank you for reading beyond the title and for telling me.

wranx ~ Yes, it seems sometimes that is all there is.  I wish you well.

Martie ~ Didn't you tell me to think good thoughts? *smile*

Aenimal ~ You and me and Warren Zevon!

Robert Frazier ~ Woah, dude!  If that is true, then I really am a walking razor!! *smile* Thank you for reading and for your thoughts.

You know...that does make more sense..

"as if I won a lottery,
in reverse"

Would that be losing nothing?

Icy, I don't know what I did before you came around and made me start thinking...

Spending down...
carefully...
but winding thoughts
by words
tighter still...

well done, Sir
