State of constant confusion!

Eyes glowing yellow-gold in the darkest recesses of my mind,
I can see them as clearly as if the were a mirror to my soul,
Her touch envelopes me in a passion I have never known,
And, yet, it seems so odd to be touched this way so soon,
It seems like only yesterday whaen Gia and I first met,
I was so enraptured by her beauty that I hadn't noticed her scars,
The scars she bore upon her heart from past loves letting her down
It never occurred to me that she couldn't return my love
And until the day she said good-bye I thought She was the one
Now my mind has been swallowed by the shadows of self doubt
And I just cant escape the feeling of being watched
And the odor that wafts in and out like the stench of rotting flesh
If only I could see outside the windows of this darkened room

It's always the eyes, isn't it?  One way or another, for better or for worse, all is told in the eyes...  Here's a torch -- head down the dark hall toward the fissure at the furthest wall which will bestow new light and fresh air upon you once more...

Hey! I read that book several years ago and your poem has spooked me just as much as the book did!
