Wouldn’t you just know it,
It seems I lost my poet,
I had him here and now he’s gone,
Perhaps he’s gone to Saskatchewan?

I think I’ll tie an old cowbell,
Around his neck, oh what the heck, (sp.)
A rope will do, tied nice and tight,
That ought to keep him in my sight.

Then at least he would be near,
And he could not disappear,
When if I had the urge to read,
A poem then I could proceed.

That is unless his mind was bare,
No rhyming words from him were there,
I’d have a poet with no rhyme,
I guess he’d be an odist mime.

What’s that you say, I am the poet,
Sheesh, I am dumb, or did I blow it?
Your forgiveness I must beg,
My mind is like a scrambled egg.

It seems my try to be poetic,
Is best described as pa-pathetic,
At least there is one thing I boast,
This here ode ain’t no repost.

Because you must my friend admit,
This here poem, does rhyme a bit,
And while as odes go, it ain't pot roast,
Like I done said, ain't no repost.
