advice

what can I do now
she always complains
that I let people
just run over me
yet when I tell her
how I think and feel
making my own stand
she just gets angry

Oh yes, it is clear
your wife wants control
she seeks the power
in this relationship
that has turned sour
all influences
must begin and end
with her in control

I am exhausted
I need an escape
I try to tell her
it is now over
I do not love you
but can we be friends
yet she does not hear
she must hold on

then try doing this
since all that you do
to make this divorce
as smooth as you can
is only making
things worse with fighting
then make a clean break
stop all the talking

oh but she will not
allow that for she
keeps harassing me
calling me at work
standing at my door
screaming her lungs out
making lots of threats

I say it again
communicating
with her does not work
she has made this clear
the only resolve
left to you is this
stop letting her win
be silent and escape

be well my friend ... I wish you peace

Janette

I have a friend that acts very much the same and I understand how you feel. I am glad to see that you have the courage to let her go where as I just can not bring myself to cut the lifeline that runs between me and my best friend. Perhaps sometimes we try to build relationships with people who are just too different from us, I don't know but it is always hard.

IntoTheFlames and Catalinamoon -
I wrote this for a dear friend whom I wish to help for it seems our conversations run this way more often than not.  Yet he cannot seem to escape this torturous relationship that has nothing left in it except for misery.  Ending a marriage is always painful but enough is enough.  I hope it all ends soon, for both their sakes, so they can leave the ugliness behind and somehow someday find new joys.

I have found that people usually levitate towards the friends that share the same opinion as them...so if they are leaning towards a divorce they go to friends that agree with them and so on...James

JamesMichael - Your point is well taken by me.  But please know I have also suggested counseling and possible reconciliation which they attempted and failed.  As I stated before, ending a marriage is always painful but once the relationship deteriorates to one of cruelty, I think, enough is enough for the LOVE has completely vanished.  Thank you for responding James.

Well-spoken advice and a well worded poem.  I am sure that your advice will be heard, and taken, in time.

Thank you.

Peace is the only battle worth waging.
